About Us

The Multicultural Network Meetings are an important key initiative of the Community Partnerships Department. These meetings have been held for years and are an essential space for fostering collaboration and sharing resources. They provide and serve as a vital platform to address the needs of historically underrepresented communities, elevate voices, promote equity, and strengthen the connection between the university and diverse community groups.

The Multicultural Network Meetings exist to unite organizations, community leaders, and university representatives in addressing the evolving needs of marginalized and underrepresented communities. Unlike other initiatives, these meetings encompass a broad spectrum of social concerns, ensuring that diverse populations receive the attention, support, and advocacy they need. Through strategic partnerships, resource-sharing, and collaborative problem-solving, the meetings drive meaningful change for those most affected by systemic barriers.

The mission of Multicultural Network Meetings is to provide an inclusive and collaborative space where community organizations, university representatives, and leaders from underrepresented groups can exchange resources, build partnerships, and advocate for the needs of their communities. Our goal is to create sustainable solutions that enhance equity, access, and representation.

The vision of Multicultural Network Meetings is to be a leading network in the region that uplifts and empowers historically underrepresented communities, ensuring that their voices are heard and their needs are addressed through strong, sustainable partnerships between the university and the broader community.

  • Equity & Inclusion: We are committed to ensuring that all communities, regardless of background, have access to resources, opportunities, and support.
  • Community-Centered Collaboration: We prioritize partnerships that amplify local voices and create real impact for diverse populations.
  • Advocacy & Representation: We work to ensure that underrepresented groups have a platform to share their needs and be part of decision-making processes.
  • Cultural Awareness & Sensitivity: We recognize and honor the diverse cultural identities within our communities, fostering respect and understanding.
  • Transparency & Trust: We believe in open communication and accountability to build lasting relationships among our partners.

Objectives of Multicultural Network Meetings includes:

  1. To foster partnerships between community organizations, nonprofit groups, and university departments to address the challenges faced by underrepresented communities.
  2. To share and distribute critical resources that promote access to healthcare, education, housing, legal support, and other essential services.
  3. To create a space for dialogue where community leaders can express concerns, propose solutions, and collaborate on initiatives that drive social change.
  4. To support cultural events, workshops, and educational initiatives that celebrate diversity and promote cultural awareness.
  5. To provide training and leadership development for individuals and organizations committed to equity, inclusion, and social justice.
  6. To strengthen communication channels that connect marginalized communities with the university, ensuring ongoing collaboration and support.

Through these meetings, we continue to build a more inclusive, connected, and empowered community, bridging the gap between the university and the diverse populations we serve.
