Center for Academic Success

This is the primary academic support resource for the University. The Center for Academic Success tutoring is available on campus at no cost. Many departments also have lists of student tutors for hire, and some classes have Teaching Assistants (TA) who can assist students.

Student Health Service

The (SHS) on campus (21 Carkoski Commons) provides medical care and health education for all enrolled students. The SHS is staffed by full-time physicians with a specialty in family practice, a psychiatrist (part-time), and family nurse practitioners. The SHS has an in-house laboratory and pharmacy.

New Student and Family Programs

This office supports first-year student success and retention. New Student and Family Programs presents Orientations for new and transfer students, offers a 1-credit First Year Seminar course to develop student success skills, provides academic advising for students who have not declared a major, houses the Learning Communities Program, and coordinates Parent Relations and Services.

Counseling Center

The Counseling Center (Centennial Student Union 285) has licensed psychologists and counselors who offer confidential support to students with personal, social, and educational concerns that may be interfering with their success at the University. No concern is too small to bring in to discuss. This service is offered at no charge for enrolled students.

Student Support Services

Student Support Services (TRIO) works with students who qualify as low income, first generation college students, or students with disabilities. The services are free to participants and include tutoring, academic advising, personal and/or career counseling, career planning, workshops, seminars, and cultural activities.

Veterans Resource Center

The Veterans Resource Center is a one-stop resource for information and referrals regarding veterans benefits and rights. The center provides support with post-deployment transitions, transfer of credits, and educational benefits to service members.

Children and Adult ADD/HD (CHADD)

The organization is composed of dedicated volunteers from around the country who play an integral part in the association's success by providing resources and encouragement to parents, educators and professionals on a grassroots level through CHADD chapters.

Postsecondary Education Programs Network (PEPNet)

PEPNet is the national collaboration of the four Regional Postsecondary Education Centers for Individuals who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing. The Centers are supported by contracts with the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services. The goal of PEPNet is to assist postsecondary institutions across the nation to attract and effectively serve individuals who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

LD Online

LD OnLine.org is the world's leading web site on learning disabilities and ADHD, serving more than 200,000 parents, teachers, and other professionals each month. LD OnLine seeks to help children and adults reach their full potential by providing accurate and up-to-date information and advice about learning disabilities and ADHD.

College Mental Health

According to a recent survey, nearly half of all college students report feeling so depressed that they had trouble functioning, and 15 percent meet the criteria for clinical depression. It is important for college-age students to seek care so they can have a healthy mind and lead a healthy life.

Asperger / Autism Network (AANE)

The Asperger / Autism Network (AANE)'s mission is to foster awareness, respect, acceptance, and support for individuals with AS and related conditions and their families.

MN State Services for the Blind (SSB)

MN State Services for the Blind (SSB) provides programs and services for Minnesotans of any age who have a vision loss that creates a barrier to their vocational or personal independence.

Education Testing Service (ETS)

The Education Testing Service (ETS) provides standardized assessments (e.g. Praxis, GRE) for college learners. Test-takers with documented disabilities desiring accommodations will find the procedures for this application process online.

Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP)

The Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) for College Students with Disabilities is a resource to connect public and private sector employers nationwide with highly motivated postsecondary students and recent graduates with disabilities who are eager to prove their abilities in the workforce.

HEATH Resource Center

The HEATH Resource Center is an online clearinghouse on postsecondary education for individuals with disabilities which has information for students on educational disability support services, policies, adaptations, accessing college or university campuses, and financial assistance.

Association of Disability and Higher Education (AHEAD)

AHEAD is the premiere professional association committed to full participation of persons with disabilities in postsecondary education.
