Audio Recording Agreement
While University Policy prohibits students from electronically recording course lectures and materials, students with disabilities who have limitations with taking or reading notes, and who have an approved accommodation plan from Accessibility Resources that includes recording course lectures and materials, are partially exempted from this policy. Students who have accommodation as a part of their accommodation plan have the right to record class lectures for their own personal study only.
Please read and agree to the following statements outlining your responsibilities when using recordings of course lectures and materials as an approved accommodation.
- I promise to record lectures and materials in each course for this semester specifically and solely to assist and enhance my personal educational learning and acquisition of the course content.
- I understand that class lecture and material content is the intellectual property of the instructor, and that my classmates have the right to confidentiality in participating in the course. I have no malicious, self-profiting, and/or otherwise bad intentions; I will make good-faith efforts to maintain the integrity of these rights.
- I affirm that I will not share, upload, distribute, or reproduce—in any way—the recordings, and the notes taken in connection with those lectures, with anyone other than Accessibility Resources staff or the course instructor. At the conclusion of or withdrawal from the course, I will erase my recordings of class lectures and materials.
- I understand that, as per University policy, unauthorized downloading, file sharing, distribution of all or part of a recorded lecture or course materials, or using information for purposes other than my own learning may be deemed a violation of policy and subject to disciplinary action.
- I understand that while I have the right to equal access to course content, instructors who have concerns regarding recording content may contact Accessibility Resources to discuss possible alternatives that are appropriate to my needs and are as equally effective as recording. In these cases, Accessibility Resources staff will include the student in this conversation.
By completing this form, I agree to the above statements and affirm that I have read and understand my responsibilities when recording course lectures and materials. I affirm that recordings are solely for my use and are a part of my accommodation plan to provide equal access to course content. In full, I pledge to abide by the above statements.
Students sign either electronically or physically, depending on their situation and method of recording.
