Constitution Day Video
Students and faculty celebrate with informational video
The Office of the Provost, the Department of Government, Student Government, and IT Solutions have created a video to observe Constitution Day 2020.
Constitution Day is an annual recognition of the importance of the U.S. Constitution. Observed each year on September 17, Constitution Day commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution and recognizes the rights of all citizens, whether by birth or by naturalization. The Constitution, along with the 15th, 19th, and 26th Amendments and various state laws, guarantee citizens the right to vote. But 2020 isn't an ordinary year. Pandemic Patriotism, by Minnesota State University, Mankato, describes some of the controversies and challenges of the 2020 elections.
Join Chris Russert as he learns more about the right to vote. Dr. Amelia Pridemore interviews Dr. George V. Davis of Marshall University to learn why voting has never been more important than it is right now. Andrew Trenne interviews Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon to learn how Minnesota has prepared for the November elections and how students can get involved and help others exercise their rights.
