About LORI
I grew up in eastern Nebraska in a small community directly on the Missouri River and right next to two first nations tribal reservations, the Omaha (Umo-ho) and the Winnebago, (Ho-Chunk). These two native communities had a great impact on my upbringing, cultural, and religious perspective. I graduated from South Dakota State University as a first generation college student. I am on my third career as Director of Development for the College of Allied Health and Nursing here at Minnesota State University, Mankato. After college, my first career was as a high-end retail merchandise and marketing coordinator. The next 21 years I spent leading three different not-for-profit organizations in Minnesota. I now feel extremely lucky to embark on my newest role as a Development Officer for Minnesota State University, Mankato. I love that this career allows me to help donors fulfill their legacy, give back, and help students achieve their educational goals.

My favorite word that has no direct English translation is “Wo-Ohoda”
When I was 5, I was pretty sure I'd be a jazz club singer when I grew up.
My favorite inspirational quote is, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” ― Maya Angelou, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings
If I could invent a holiday, it would involve one day when your only goal was to spend the day with someone who you perceive as different from yourself and live a day in their life.
