Why did you choose your undergraduate major?

I was inspired by a dedicated math teacher whose guidance deeply influenced my commitment to excel in the field of mathematics. During my higher secondary education, I demonstrated a strong aptitude for mathematics, which influenced my decision to pursue a bachelor's degree in statistics and mathematics.

Why are you passionate about advising?

My passion is to impact students' lives meaningfully by empowering them to achieve their academic goals, recognizing their strengths, and creating career action plans for success. I am passionate about higher education advising because I firmly believe in the transformative power of education. I see advising as a significant tool in college students' transition from high school to higher education, and I am inspired by its potential to shape their future. In 2017, the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US State Department, in collaboration with Florida State University, sponsored me to participate in the Community College Administrative Program with Pakistan (CCAP). This program gave me valuable insights into the Florida Community College Model and the US higher education system. Visiting various community colleges and universities in state of Florida allowed me to learn and understand the science and importance of academic and career advising in higher education. As a Career advisor in the career development center at Minnesota State University, Mankato, my advising skills have empowered over 580 students to make informed decisions about their academic and career paths, fostering their growth and career development. My unwavering commitment to fostering student development is the driving force behind my dedication to higher education. I find fulfillment in building meaningful relationships with diverse students, guiding them through academic challenges, and helping them discover their strengths and passions through advising. The personal growth of students under my guidance is something that I take great pride in.

What's a fun fact about you?

I have a passion for playing cricket, watching ice hockey, gardening and exploring new places through travel. These interests allow me to enjoy both the thrill of sports and the enriching experiences of discovering diverse culture and landscape around the world.
