Why do I want to be a Maverick First Advocate
I was the first person in my family to go to college. I had no idea what to do, what questions to ask, or how to navigate the college experience. I tended to just observe what other people were doing and did similar things. This taught me a lot about myself and how to be independent. But, I remember how stressful that was and how I always felt unsure of my next step. I didn’t feel comfortable asking questions or admitting that I didn’t know what to do. Being an advocate helps me help others that might be feeling what I felt during my college experience.
Other unique things about me
I changed majors quite a few times before I figured out what major best met my needs. Then went to graduate school for something different than my major! I have worked in a lot of different areas in my field. I think it is important that you know that interest’s change and that is okay!
I have a lot of diverse interests. I love alternative rock from the late 90’s and 2000’s. I like reading and shopping for shabby chic/farmhouse stuff. I enjoy comedies like the Office, Parks and Rec and Schitt’s Creek. I also watch a lot of Food Network TV! I like listening to a variety of podcasts that range from The Daily, Armchair Expert, Popcast, to the Power Trip Morning Show.
