Minnesota State System Honors Former President Richard Davenport with Emeritus Status
Mankato, Minn. -- The Minnesota State system announced Tuesday that former Minnesota State University, Mankato President Richard Davenport has been honored with the title of President Emeritus.
Acting on the recommendation of Chancellor Devinder Malhotra, the Board of Trustees of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities recognized six retired presidents, including Davenport, with the title of President Emeritus, according to a news release.
The award of emeritus status is intended as a special honor for employees who have served with great distinction.
Davenport served as the 12th president of Minnesota State University, Mankato from 2002 until his retirement in 2021.
Minnesota State Mankato, a comprehensive university with 14,482 students, is part of the Minnesota State system, which includes 26 colleges and seven universities.
