We Are Water
October 22 through December 18, 2020
Blue Earth County Historical Society
424 Warren Street, Mankato
We are Water Minnesota is a traveling exhibit that examines water issues statewide and in local communities through personal stories, histories, and scientific information. It strengthens Minnesotans’ relationships with water, exposes visitors to new perspectives, and increases participation in water stewardship activities.
“We Are Water Minnesota will give the community a public space to share their firsthand experience of the power and importance of water by giving them a place to share their local water stories,” said Shelley Harrison, BECHS Curator/Archivist at the Blue Earth County Historical Society. “Visitors will also have the opportunity to examine the biological, social, and economic aspects of water, right here in their own backyards.” This exhibit will be on display through December 18. There will be a series of events associated with the exhibit.
Blue Earth County Historical Society has partnered with Water Resources Center, Minnesota State University, Mankato, Le Sueur River Watershed Network and the Minnesota Humanities Center to bring this exhibit our community.
We Are Water MN is a collaboration of the Minnesota Humanities Center, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, the Minnesota Historical Society and the Minnesota Departments of Agriculture, Health, and Natural Resources. This exhibition was developed with money from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund that was created with a vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.
